Lost

I find myself lost in the dark abyss
Looking for what has gone amiss
Something’s gone but I don’t know what
Something important, something I want

I blink against this feeling of loss
Like I’m caught in the tide, forever lost
This ocean of nothingness I cannot escape
Filling my heart with anger and hate

I reach out my hand toward the fading light
Only to be sucked away from it’s sight
I scream but my voice is silent
The darkness within coursing and violent

Curled into a protective ball
I say a prayer as I fall
Asking for a second chance
As I cast the surface, one final glance
