Seven....Trig is a slave driver.....
Name Unsealed
When Kylie woke up the first thing she saw was Christian’s worried face hovering over hers, with a startled gasp she tried to sit up. “OW!”
Christian moved to help her into and easier position. “You shouldn’t move around to much, your wound is open again not to mention a few more injuries you added in your fall with that mongrel!”
Kylie looked up at Christian with fierce eyes. “Mourdrid is not a mongrel! He is my friend and he made a mistake so stop talking about him like he is just some dumb animal because he isn’t!”
Christian pulled back in semi-shock semi-hurt at her angry words. “I’m sorry Kylie, I was just so upset when you got hurt is all.”
Kylie sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. “I know but just imagine then how Mourdrid must feel seeing how he caused me to hurt my leg.”
Christian lowered his head. “You are right and I apologize for saying such things about Mourdrid, I know I would be if not equally then more upset if someone spoke of Blind Song in that manner.” He said in a soft voice.
Smiling she placed her hand over his larger tanner one. “I’m glad you understand that, now would mind telling just where we happen to be?”
Christian smiled and put is other hand on top of hers. “The woman that saved you came and led Blind Song and I here to the small cottage in the mountains, she told us that she would return with the master that would train you and nothing else.”
Thinking about that for a moment Kylie was quiet until she finally threw back her blanket and tossed her legs over the side of the bed.
“What on earth are you doing? You can’t move yet, you’re still far to injured!” Christian said trying to usher her back into bed.
Kylie looked up at him with a pained expression as she pushed past the pain. “Hurt or not I want to see Mourdrid, besides I assume these wounds are nothing compared to what I will sustain in the future.”
He couldn’t believe the simple will power of this girl, he new in the future it was likely that even gods would cower before her strength. “Kylie I know you wish to see Mourdrid but couldn’t you at least wait until you can walk on your own?”
“What did I just say Christian? Look I’m sorry but I have always done things my way and I don’t intend to bend to anyone’s will now, so please just leave me be.” Kylie said as she forced her body to move past him. Still she got no further than a few steps when her body gave in and she fell over. However, instead of hitting the ground she found she had landed in the very soft arms of someone else.
“My, my I have gone and caught a little mouse it would seem.” Said an amused voice.
Kylie struggled to look up and gasped when she stared into the eyes of a tiger, with a silent shriek she jerked back landing hard on her rear. However, what she now saw wasn’t a tiger but a woman with long dark orange hair highlighted with black streaks. She also had dainty claws and fangs matched with a long slender tiger’s tail. “Wh-What in the name of heaven are you?” Kylie asked in a whisper of breath.
“I am Saria the Mistress of this mountain and one of the six most powerful of the sacred beasts ever to walk the earth.” She said with a confident smile.
Kylie couldn’t have been more stunned if you had throw a bucket of cold water on her. “Y-you’re a sacred beast? But how is that even possible? I mean besides the claws and other small out of place details you look human enough to me.” Kylie said still shell-shocked.
Saria laughed at the beaten up little human. “There is so much for you to learn of our kind Kylie, or should I call you the Eternal Flame?”
“What do you mean? Why would you call me that?” Kylie asked more confused then before.
Christian who was trying to take this all in glanced at Kylie. “I think she means that is your one true name Kylie.”
“My true name? You mean my name of power but….how would she know it?” Kylie questioned.
“Because she is a master and a sacred beast, she can look at you and read what your name is. The only thing is that normally you must be trained to get your power before they give you a name.” Christian explained.
“Yes, but my pet she is special. She needs merely to say the name and accept it as her title and the power it holds shall be hers alone.” Saria said with a purring voice.
“That’s not possible though, no one can simply be given a name and expect to hold power over it!” Christian bellowed
Kylie flinched as Christian yelled; turning her head away, she longed to bury her face in Mourdrid’s black fur.
As if he had read her thoughts there was a loud crash outside as Mourdrid came barreling through the door.
“Mourdrid! I have been so worried about you, are you injured?” Kylie asked getting up and trying to walk to him despite her mangled leg and tattered body.
Mourdrid rushed to her side, helping to support her. “I am in much better shape than you at the present moment.” He then turned his gaze on Saria. “I thank you for caring for my
Mistress.”
Sari smiled and nodded at the wolf with a glint in her cat eyes. “Yes well I suppose someone had to seeing how a puppy wasn’t suitable for the job.”
Kylie jerked her gaze to Saria’s face only to come face to face with an icy glare. “Mourdrid had done his best to protect me! He is my friend and I trust him so please refrain from talking down to him.”
Saria’s eyes hardened even more as she stared at the human girl and her wounded body that was barely capable of keeping itself upright. “Yes I can plainly see from the state of your body how well he has taken care of you…now if you don’t mind I would rather get down to business
ok?”
Mourdrid growled at the tigress. “Do not presume to talk to my master as if her words are useless upon your ears!” He rose to his full height puffing out his chest slightly.
Laughing Saria pretended to wipe tears from her eyes. “You could not hope to defeat Asana much less myself!”
“Who is Asana?” Kylie asked wondering whom this was that Saria obviously thought highly of.
“Asana is the ice witch of this mountain, a she-fox who as reigned in the Ice-lands to the north for over a thousand years.” Saria said with a hint of pride in her sultry voice.
Even Christian’s eyes bugged at hearing that title. “The sacred she-fox no man has ever ridded? She is said to be a legend of the ice land people.” Christian stated in disbelieving shock.
Kylie looked from Christian’s shocked face back to Mourdrid’s own stunned expression. “So if she is the ruler of the ice-lands then why is she here at the Tree Fold Mountains?”
“Because my power was needed here, and my lady Saria summoned me. It being her will for my presence here I could not ignore the command seeing how she is my mistress.”
Kylie turned her head in the direction of the voice; she was surprised to see the girl who had saved them from the attack earlier. “You are the one who saved me! You’re Asana? But Saria said you were a sacred beast, a fox to be exact.”
“She is a fox Kylie; look did you not notice her own tail and ears? Not to mention she has the eyes of the fox.” Christian said in a calm voice. “So I take it she must be a true beast of power in order to sustain a human form like you Saria?”
Kylie recalled having something about Asana not being human when she saved them but her pain had been so great that her memory was hazy in the details. Still she wanted to learn more and Christian brought up a good point. “He’s right wouldn’t her ability to take human guise mean she is very old to?”
Asana bristled at being called old and whirled around bearing down on Kylie. “I am barely two thousand years old! Not to mention the ability to turn human is based on power alone not age!”
Kylie refrained from mentioning that two thousand years was actually very old to a human, instead she asked. “So you’re very powerful then? Ok so if you’re so strong and Saria trained
you then how great are her powers?”
Happy.....mistakes are to be expected because I am getting lazy hehe
