Contract with the Devil. Part 1#
In the middle of an open field stood a single woman, she had hair black as night that flowed down to her feet and in each of her hands she held a double-edged sword. Lifting her head to the sky her eyes shone red as blood and a twisted smile worked its way across her lovely features.
Not more then twenty feet from the woman stood an army of winged beasts, with claws sharp as knives and jagged teeth that could pierce steel itself. With howls of outrage, they charged the woman wanting nothing more to feel her hot blood running down their throats.
The woman smirked and threw back her head as a deep sinister laugh erupted from her, gripping the hilts of her swords she held her ground until the creatures were a mere two feet away, then she struck. Launching at them she began her massacre with pleasure.
The hellish creatures sank their fangs and claws into any part of her flesh that they could reach, drawing blood from her white skin they roared with pleasure at their thought victory.
Laughing quietly to herself, the woman allowed the beasts to drink their fill before she began her own onslaught, holding her swords high above her head she brought them crashing down on the two beasts nearest her. Then with a god-like speed, she ran through the crowd of demons running them through with her swords as if they were mere butter.
The horde of demons screamed there rage at their kin being slaughtered. Raising their claws they struck at the demonic angel as she raced past them, slices appeared all over their bodies as they fell into pieces.
The woman ceased her onslaught and looked around at the now red field, raising a sword to her mouth she licked a trickle of blood from it as it stream down the cool steel. Knowing she had won she smiled in deep unwavering satisfaction, allowing her eyes to roam the battlefield she drunk in the sight of freshly spilt blood. Finally, her gaze rested on a lone figure in the distance.
“What do you want stranger? A quick death is all I can offer now that you have laid eyes upon my work.” The woman said evilly.
The newcomers eyes flashed and eerie silver color as he walked closer, stepping out of the shadows he revealed himself to the lone maiden. “Dear lady do you not know me?” He asked raising his eyes to meet hers. “After all I know you all to well dear Zandra.”
The woman called Zandra stared a moment then her red eyes turned a pale purple as fear filled them and she let out a horrendous, terrified scream, she turned and fled her long silk hair flying behind her as she ran.
She was running at me her eyes filled with terror, I could feel the pure animal like fear coming from her as she came at me. Wanting to help yet at the same time I wanted to run knowing this woman would kill me in a heartbeat. She was only a few feet away now; I opened my mouth to scream as she neared me only inches separated us now.
I shot out of bed as a scream of terror tore out of my body, looking around I saw I was in my own bed and there was no woman or strange man there. Sighing in relief I turned over and went back to sleep. Just not before, I saw her fearful eyes in my head one last time as sleep consumed my mind. Pushing her away to the corners of my memory, I let the darkness take me and fell away into a deep slumber, fearing only nightmares.
The next morning when I got up the first thing I remembered was the dream from last night, shaking my head I tried to rid myself of the haunting images. My head snapped up when I heard my mother calling me, leaping out of bed I threw on some jeans and raced downstairs. Downstairs my mom set a plate of food down on the table for me. “Oh thanks mom.” I told her as I sat down.
She smiled at her son and ruffled his hair. “Just don’t be late for school Michael.” She said chidingly.”
I stuck my tongue out at her and went to eating my breakfast. By the time I was done, I had almost completely forgotten about my dream last night and by the time I headed out to school it was just another faded bad dream.
At school, I met up with Tina and Blake. “Hey guys, what’s up?” I asked as I walked over to them.
Tina bounced from one foot to the other. “Oh my god Michael you won’t believe it! It’s so unbelievable!” She said as she jumped up and down.
I put my hands on her shoulders to calm her down and looked over at Blake for a little help. “What is she trying to tell me exactly?” I asked Blake as I pressed down on Tina’s shoulders to keep her still.
Blake sighed and walked over. “She wants you to know that Ella and Brian broke up today.” He said nonchalantly.
My eyes widened in surprise and joy, I had wanted to ask Ella out for two years but Brian and her had been together going on four years now. “This is great! I can finally ask her out!” I exclaimed.
Tina nodded exuberantly. “I know you have been waiting for this for so long and now you finally have a chance with her!” She squealed.
Blake let out humph at us. “What makes you think she’ll want to go out with anyone after just breaking up with her boyfriend of four years?” He asked in a bored tone.
I felt my smile slip away as I stared at Blake. “Well she might be ok with it. I mean sheesh Blake could you be any more of a downer?” I asked coldly.
Tina turned her angry eyes on Blake as well. “Yea Blake you know how much he likes Ella, you could be a little supportive!” Tina scolded Blake.
I sighed as the two of them bickered back and forth; looking away, I spotted Ella walking towards the building. Deciding to be brave, I took off after and caught her just before she went in. “Hey Ella!” I called out.
Ella stopped and turned towards Michael. “What is it Michael? I need to get to class.” She said politely, Michael was so sweet so she could tolerate him.
I took a deep breath and summoned all my courage as I asked her what was in my heart. “Ella I really like you and I know you and Brian just broke up but I was hoping you might go out with me?” I said all in one breath.
She stared at Michael in shock. “As flattering as this is Michael, I can’t date you since I don’t see you as anything other than a friend. I’m sorry Michael.” She said and walked off to class.
I was so shocked that I didn’t move until Tina and Blake came up and nudged me lightly.
Tina scrunched up her face in pity. “I’m so sorry Michael we knew how much you liked her.” She said with a sympathetic tone.
Blake just snorted. “I told you she wouldn’t say yes, you should have just listened to me to begin with.” Blake said with a smirk. “I mean no offence but you seriously have no luck with girls anyway.”
I moaned and turned away from him knowing he was right and hating it. “Look I’m in no mood for school today so I’m ditching ok.” I ran off before they could even reply.
I ended up going to the old cemetery out in the field behind my house; I have no idea why it just seemed like the place to go at the time. I found a smooth stone and crawled up onto it, yawing I decided to take a nap and slipped into darkness.
“He’s cute! Can we eat him Milady?” A silky voice called.
“No my dear he is one of the keepers and he is not to be harmed…until a deal had been sealed.” The even more beautiful voice said.
I heard the voices near me and pulled open my heavy lids only to see it had grown dark out, looking around my eyes landed on a small girl with waist length white hair and large silver eyes. “Who are you and why are you here?” I demanded of her.
“Tis not Avrial you need worry about boy but me.” The silky reply from near by him.
My head whipped around and the air in my lungs froze as I gazed upon the woman from my dreams, her name refreshed in my mind slipped out between my lips. “Zandra…” I said raggedly.
Her eyes flared deep crimson as her name was called by the boy; she leaned over until her face was inches from his. “How is it that you came across my lost name boy?” She asked in a hiss of breath.
I sucked in a breath when I saw the fangs she bared in anger at me. “You are a demon!” I shouted.
She tilted her back and gave a cynical laugh. “Aye boy and have been far longer than the years your body has lived.” She said in an equally cynical tone.
Gulping I tried not to look her in her blood red eyes but it was impossible not to do so. “What do you ant from me?” I asked terrified at what she had in mind.
Looking down at the shaken boy, she raised the tips of her mouth in a malicious smile. “I want nothing sweet one, it is you that shall gain something from this encounter.” She said in a throaty voice.
My eyes went wide and my body rigid as she reached one pale hand out and grazed my cheek with one icy finger. “I-I don’t understand, what do you mean I will gain something?” I asked in a trembling voice.
With a vicious sneer, she curled her hand around the boy’s chin and jerked his face to forward. “Is there not one thing you wish for more than anything my boy? One desire that you would give everything up for” Zandra asked in a cold voice.
Ella’s image flickered through my mind before I could stop it, I saw the look of triumph flicker in Zandra’s eyes. “What are you going to do to her?” I cried angrily.
Zandra cackled evilly at the pale and angry boy. “I shall do nothing except give you what it is that you long for! Tomorrow we shall seal this deal in blood, until then rest sweet one.” Waving her hand across his eyes, she thrust him into a deep sleep. “Come Avrial let us go.” She said as she and her minion vanished.
